Terms & Conditions — Deck Board Calculator
Terms & Conditions
Welcome to DeckBoardCalculator.com (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using this site, you agree to these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1) What this service is
We provide decking estimation tools and informational content. You can enter total square feet or exact dimensions, choose a board size (e.g., 5/4×4, 5/4×6, 2×4, 2×6), select joist spacing (12″/16″/24″ on-center), and pick a decking angle (90° or 45°). The calculator updates in real time and shows estimated board counts by common lengths (8′–20′), optional perimeter “picture-frame” footage, and fastener estimates for screws or hidden clips.
2) How estimates are calculated
- We assume typical face widths (~3.5″ for “4-inch” boards and ~5.5″ for “6-inch” boards) and a default 1/8″ gap for drainage/expansion.
- Diagonal installs (45°) use a multiplier (≈1.414) to reflect longer runs and offcuts.
- A default 5% cut-waste buffer is added, with final counts rounded up.
- Fasteners: two screws per joist-intersection (or one hidden clip per intersection). If only total area is entered, we approximate dimensions for intersections.
These are industry-style assumptions for quick planning and may not match your supplier’s stock, local codes, or installer preferences.
3) Not professional advice
The site provides planning estimates only. It is not structural, engineering, architectural, or building-code advice. Always verify quantities and spans with your supplier, follow manufacturer installation guides, and comply with local building codes and permitting requirements. When in doubt, consult a qualified professional.
4) Your responsibilities
- Use the Deck Board Calculator lawfully and responsibly.
- Verify results before purchasing, cutting, or installing materials.
- Account for site-specific factors (board species/composite profiles, climate, framing layout, stair treads, picture-frame borders, fascia, and waste beyond 5%).
- Do not disrupt, reverse-engineer, or scrape the service.
